Alaska 2010 Daily News and Photo:
June 10th Skagway, Alaska,
This morning we tossed all of the camera gear and some snacks and headed up the Klondike Highway into the province of Yukon, Canada. You pass through a short stretch of British Columbia and then into Yukon. We found the landscape to be very different from what we have seen anywhere else on the trip and unlike anything you will find in Oregon.
One thing you have to keep an eye out for crossing the highway in front of you is bears. This time of the year they are very active. If you see one of them in the road you understand why they have the right of way. If you get lucky after one crosses the road you happen to be in the right place you may be able to turn onto an old quarry road and get to the place the bear was going. Today was one of those days. I got this black bear shot from about 75 yards. It did look up at us when we opened the car doors but then went on its way. |
