To satisfy a very large need to get out of the house Jonna and I wandered out to what for us was virgin territory on Friday with a drive on the Siuslaw.
The day started off pretty sunny but high clouds moved in later in the day. Most of the area is second growth timber that was replanted in the last 20 years. There are still tracts of virgin wood along the river.
Talk about hitting the right time for belly flowers. For you non photographers, belly flowers are those little wild flowers that are so close to the ground you have to get down on the ground on your belly to photograph them. Everywhere you looked there were bleeding hearts, orange columbine and wild iris. In areas of seeping water with moss on rock walls, the moss was in bloom with it’s tiny flowers.
So where are the photos of all these flowers you ask! I left the macro lens at home for a reason but not to despair, I did get one for you that I really like.
All three of these images were processed using three images and merging them together in a process called HDR. It allows you to do some great processing when it comes to pulling things out of the shadows and calming down blown out highlights. The Last image is a close up of the bottom of the falls of the second image. Don’t forget to click on the small image for the large version.
Here are your images. Have a great week!
Just beautiful!!!
