Spring In The Old Growth

Spring in the old growth is one of those hard to beat things in life. A walk or hike up there is one of the best reasons to miss work. Just call it a mental health day. This shot was taken just down river from Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie River in the Oregon Cascade…

Raindrops On Yellow

In many locations the saying “April showers bring May flowers” is a very real thing. Here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon the blooms start well before May with some of them starting as early as February. This yellow tulip was just about bloomed out but I did manage to fine one petal that was…

Earth Day 2011

I think Earth Day is one of the better ideas they have come up as far as special days to celebrate. They have golf day, coffee cup day, wash your dog day and so many others that they are starting to overlap. I feel Earth Day is one of the needed ones.

This is really a cause that needs more discussion being that humans have determined to overpopulate the earth and destroy it. While man tries to keep the universe from evolving to keep the earth from changing they can’t figure out how to put a candy bar wrapper or an empty water bottle back in their pocket and carry it back to their fancy car that they spent 10’s of thousands of dollars on so they can end pollution. Throw the trash on the ground but the air will be clean!  How many tons of coal did they burn in Japan or Korea to build the car that will save the world while they drive around throwing McDonald’s bags out the window.

Alright, I’m done ranting. I hope you enjoy the photographs. They are a mix of my work  from the deserts of California to the glaciers of Alaska.  Please remember, take only photographs and memories. Leave only foot prints and if you leave the trail please watch where you step.

Seal Rock At Low Tide in Pseudo HDR

This image was taken at Seal Rock. Seal Rock can be found about half way between Yachats and Newport. The best time, I think, to go to Seal Rock is at very low tides. Minus tides are the hard to beat. If you are going to go out exploring and photographing the tidal pools please…

For years I have run my own weather station here at home. It is a great way to keep track of rainfall, temperatures and wind at home when I am on the road. The information from my station is now included on the right sidebar here on my blog. Clicking on the badge will bring…

Working with redwood

I’m working on a project for a friend that needs an image from the redwoods area that I visited near Crescent City, CA last month. While I did burn the images to a CD to send to him I wanted him to be able to see what I came up with in advance as snail…

Back In Time – Weekly Photo # 224

This weeks photo is of the Cain House in the old gold mining town of  Bodie, California. If you are into ghost hunting, the Cain House is one of the better places to hang around in Bodie. It is said that the past maid killed herself in this house. This supposedly has something to do…
