Aerial View Of Mountains Above Juneau, Alaska

I’ve been playing with some some black and white presets for Lightroom that I ran across. This latest batch of presets is supposed to be representative of the results you might get from some of the older b&w films. this is realizing that the film is only part of the final look. Papers and chemicals also played a big part in the final result. This image was processed using the preset for the Ilford Delta 400 Pro Auto. I did pull out the lower end of the mid tones just a touch and add a bit of vignetting.

If this preset is close to the real deal as it is supposed to be, it is amazing how much more exposure latitude we have with a good digital camera than with the old films. While I shot a little film most of it was transparencies and I didn’t spend the time I would have liked to in a darkroom.

This was shot from a helicopter between Herbert and Mendenhall Glaciers out of Juneau, Alaska. This was from my trip last year.

If you are a digital photographer and use Lightroom, be sure and learn about using presets in your work flow. They can be a major time saver.
