The Red Drop

The Red Drop

Have you noticed that once in a while you start thinking about the way you used to do something with your camera but it won’t come back to you? Most of the time you can even look in the manual, if you happen to have one, and you still can’t find the answer.

A few things I have found over the years as I am sure most of you have, is that manuals have lost their English. Say what? You know what I am saying. Maybe I should be more tactful but it is what it is and when the manual is written in China, Japan or India and translated to English some things get lost along the way. Manuals have also seemed to be missing anything in the way of “how to” anymore. When you couple that with the apparent paper shortage there just just isn’t much material worth reading in the manual today.

All of this brings me to a web site called DigitalCameraInfo.com . I don’t remember how I found the site. I’m sure I was searching for something in an effort to keep from working. I have to admit I am impressed with the site. In your case it will probably only impress you if the camera you own or are going to buy happens to be on the site. From what I have seen just browsing there is no shortage of makes and models to choose from. The great thing about the reports on the site is besides telling you that there is a control that changes this or that, it tells you what happens if you change this or that.

The site also has a compare feature which is really handy if you are shopping. You can bring two models up next to each other and see who has what. As fast as cameras are changing today you want to get on top of new tech before buying. While a pro-sumer model may set you back several hundred dollars, that pro model is going to set you back a few thousand. While you can under buy and not get features you will need you can also over buy and end up with things you never will use.

Take a look at DigitalCameraInfo.com. If you find it handy that is cool. If not it didn’t cost you anything. Thanks for stopping by. I’m back to the “other job”.
