In many locations the saying “April showers bring May flowers” is a very real thing. Here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon the blooms start well before May with some of them starting as early as February.

This yellow tulip was just about bloomed out but I did manage to fine one petal that was still in pretty good shape. I never noticed the small read areas until I started focusing in on the raindrops from last night.

A couple of things I found interesting while looking for something to shoot this morning. While walking around in the yard I noticed that all of the daffies but a handful are done. All of this rain we have gotten has beaten the tulips to a pulp and with the rhodies starting to open and a week full of rain in the the forecast we can bet on rust spots on the rhodie blooms this year. We may luck out and get the rain to slow down before the white and other light colored blooms start to pop. So much for the good news!

So when you click on the thumbnail above to get the large image and look at the rain drops, yes my friends it is real rain and not from a spray bottle. If you don’t know how to tell the difference drop me a note. I will let you in on the secret. Anyway..  it looks like the drops are running up hill. No I didn’t flip the image. yes I did go out and look at it again. They really do they look that way. If you can figure it out please let me know.

One more quick fact. I am really finding that macro shooting is getting harder with age. Maybe it isn’t the shooting, just the getting up off the ground part of it all.
