It is hard to beat a sunny day at Shore Acres State Park on the Oregon Coast. If you can catch it the day after a storm the wave action is the best. Once in a while you can catch it with the wind blowing off shore so the tops are blowing off of the waves and out to sea. It makes for some great shooting.
Make sure to clean your gear thoroughly when you get home or back to the motel. The sooner the better on the cleaning. That salt spay isn’t good for anything. Most of the time the tripod goes into the shower. The camera gets wiped down with a wet wash cloth a couple of times and dried. Be very careful cleaning lenses with dried salt spray on them. Go very damp on a clean soft cloth for a couple of passes. Wipe very gently. From there go to your normal lens cleaning gear. When the wind is blowing in at the coast is one of the few times I will use a UV filter on my lens. You can just dunk the filter under running water before cleaning it. I don’t suggest dunking lenses even if they are “L” glass.
