Three First Place Images
I’m a happy camper. I managed to pull three first place images out of my hat in last nights EPS competition.
Up In Smoke
I’ve started playing out in the studio with capturing smoke with a flash and then using a little post processing trickery on the images. (click on image for full size view)
Smoking Gun
This is a little studio play with an old black powder pistol as a prop.
Melted Snow
I took off on Sunday and went shooting with a friend from the local photography club. We headed up in to the Oregon Cascades on the Aufderhide Scenic Byway in search of mini water falls on some of the many creeks that fill with snow runoff this time of the year. We managed to find a few of them that were still running pretty strong. In making a run up an old logging road to one of my favorite East looking viewpoints, we did find there was still some snow hanging around at the 5000 foot level.

Working With Zerene Stacker For Added Depth of Field
Zerene Stacker is software that allows you to merge together images taken of the same subject at different points of focus and merge them together for a deeper depth of field. The trees are in full bloom here in the Willamette Valley
Standing in line for lunch yesterday at Lewis and Clark College in Portland I spotted this partially lighted tree. I did have the trusty point and shoot with me. Back light is hard to tame but I was pretty happy with this shot. Be sure to click on the image for full size.
NPPNW Spring Entries
These images are the ones that I entered in the 2012 Spring competition at Nature Photographers Of The Pacific Northwest being held this Saturday in Portland, Oregon. The keynote speaker will be George Lepp. It will be a case of learning from one of the best out there.

The results of playing in my new light tent, processing in Combine ZM, Lightroom, Elements 9 and Silver Efex Pro. This is actually three stacked images to get the depth of field that I wanted.
