New Lightroom Presets…

I’ve been playing with some new presets I found for Lightroom. Always searching for better starting points to work from with black and white. Comments welcome.

Ene of the road

Have you ever gotten to the end of the road and not wanted to turn around and go back? That is the way it was yesterday. The sounds of the Jays and squirrels, the intoxicating smell of a mixed species forest with fir, hemlock and cedar and the little details of nature all around you….

Fall On The River

I will try and get a set from this shoot over the weekend.

Brain under a tree.

I found what appears to be the brain of some congressman laying on the ground up in the woods. Mind and body being separate things for them may account for some of their ideas. Actually it’s a cauliflower mushroom and some berry leafs.

Bath Time

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder to all of you in this hot weather. If you are someone who cares about wildlife, don’t forget to care about urban wildlife. It is hot out there. Most of you have all of the water you want to drink. Do a friend a favor and put out some water for the birds in your yard. They get plenty warm and overheated too and they don’t have an air conditioned house or office.

An old pie pan or any shallow dish that shape will work. A few inches deep is good enough. If you see a rock laying around to make an island in the dish for the smaller birds, all the better. Put it where you can see it and get in on the fun. If you have hummingbirds you need running water like a small fountain. Even a table top model set on a small table near a feeder will draw them in. In this case it was a Black-capped Chickadee that found the fountain.

Stay cool and water the birds. They will eats some bugs for you.

Riveted

Well are you tired of my HDR images yet? I’ll try and make this the last set for a while.

The images in this set are macro 1:1 shots of three separate images blended to make one image. You actually take a normal image and one over exposed and one under exposed and blend them together and then do some strange things with color saturation and some other things that you don’t really care about.

Anyway the objects in the photos are the rivets holding the steel plates together that make up an old railroad tank car that hauled water. Steel, water and lack of maintenance can make for some very interesting close up photography.  I give you … Riveted…

From the Junk Yard

Our photo club, The Emerald Photographic Society did a junk yard field trip yesterday to one of the local wrecking yards. A lot of good old iron laying around to shoot but the lighting wasn’t great. I have a feeling a number of the shots will end up in the HDR box.

Toy Camera? Holga?

My new little Canon ELPH 300 HP has a mode called “Toy Camera”. As with the other modes it looks like it could be real fun used in moderation.

Honey They Shrunk The Hospital

Well I went out and bought a new Canon ELPH 300 point and shoot for something a little higher quality than what I had to carry in my pocket when I escape the confines of the house. They cameras on the consumer level have more fun toys built into them. This miniature feature is one…
